Privacy

How this site uses your data.

I collect limited data when you use this site, contact me, join the newsletter or use Ask Jev. Google Analytics loads only after you press Accept. For privacy questions or requests, email hamzaahmedaslam@gmail.com.

Who I am and how to reach me

This site is run by me, Hamza Ahmad Aslam, an individual developer based in Pakistan.

For privacy questions or requests, email hamzaahmedaslam@gmail.com.

Cookies and the banner

The site sets no cookies during ordinary browsing.

If you use Ask Jev, a cookie called assistant_s keeps that conversation together for 2 hours. It contains a random ID, the number of turns and the topic. It contains nothing about you. The cookie is needed for the feature, so the consent banner does not control it.

The banner stores your choice in your browser's local storage under hz-consent, so it does not ask again.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, I treat that as Reject. The banner does not appear and analytics stays off. You can still opt in later from the footer link.

You can change your choice at any time from that footer link. If you choose Reject after previously accepting, the site deletes the analytics cookies it can reach and stops the analytics scripts.

Analytics and site statistics

Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4 loads through Google Tag Manager only after you press Accept. Microsoft Clarity may also be added later, but it will follow the same rule.

Before you accept, and if you reject, no Google or Microsoft analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set.

After you accept, Google Analytics may collect:

  • Pages you view.
  • How you arrived, such as a referrer or campaign tag.
  • Approximate country and city.
  • Device and browser type.
  • Scrolls, outbound clicks and file downloads.
  • Whether a contact or newsletter form was sent, never what you typed.

Google Analytics sets cookies with names beginning _ga.

Google signals is off. I do not use analytics for advertising. Ad storage and ad personalisation are always sent as denied. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

My own visit counter

The site also has its own cookie-free visit counter. It is always available, but browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted at all.

It records:

  • Page views per day and per page.
  • Country from the hosting network's header.
  • Referring site's name and campaign source.
  • 404 pages.
  • Anonymous Core Web Vitals by page type and device type.
  • Scrubbed browser error reports without an address or IP.

To count unique visitors per day, the site makes a one-way hash from the IP address, browser string, a secret salt and the date. The hash changes every day and cannot be turned back into an IP. Raw IP addresses are not stored.

I use this on the basis of legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read and keeping the site fast and working.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, I collect your name, email, topic, message, optional website and the page you sent it from.

The site stores this in its database with your browser string and a hashed IP used to block spam and abuse.

Spam checks include:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile, which receives your IP to distinguish people from bots.
  • A check that your email domain can receive mail.
  • Rate limits that keep hashed IPs for 2 days.

Your message text, topic, website and email domain, but not your full email address, are sent to Jev, an AI service from TypeSafe AI. Jev suggests a topic and priority so I can sort messages.

It is not used to train anything on my side. No decision about you is made automatically. I read every message.

I receive a notification through Brevo and in a private Discord channel. It includes your name, email and the start of your message.

I keep contact messages as long as needed to answer you and for any work that follows. I delete them on request.

The legal bases are steps you ask me to take before a possible contract and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

Newsletter

If you join the newsletter, I collect your email address and store it in my Brevo contact list.

The newsletter uses double opt-in. You receive a confirmation email before you are subscribed. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. When you use it, you are removed from the list.

Cloudflare Turnstile and the email-domain check also apply to the signup form.

The legal basis is your consent.

Ask Jev

If you use Ask Jev, what you type is sent to Jev, a service from TypeSafe AI, so it can read the question and suggest a next step.

The site does not store the conversation. It only counts how many turns happen per day.

If you move a draft from Ask Jev to the contact form, the draft travels in the page address until you send the form.

Other services

The site runs on Vercel and uses Neon Postgres for its database. Vercel keeps its own short-lived request logs as the host.

Some article cover images load from Unsplash, so your browser requests those images from Unsplash's servers.

The services used by this site include Vercel, Neon, Google, Brevo, Cloudflare, TypeSafe AI, Discord and Unsplash. They may process data in other countries, including the United States, under their own data protection terms.

I do not sell personal information. I do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There are no ads on this site.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its use, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent at any time.

If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you have rights to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. I do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You will not be discriminated against for using these rights.
