Trace WooCommerce tax rounding differences

Trace one WooCommerce order to find where tax, totals, refunds or gateway amounts first differ by a cent or a few.

How it works

1Record versions, order origin, changed settings and the figures that disagree.
2Export the order and its tax settings, stored values, refunds and relevant hooks.
3Add observed checkout, REST, email, refund and gateway figures to the JSON.
4Run node scripts/tax-trace.mjs order-<id>.json under both rounding settings.
5Find the first stage that differs and rebuild that arithmetic by hand.
6Choose one documented change, rehearse it on staging and wait for approval.
7Export again, rerun the helper and fill the report from its output.

Trace cent differences between checkout, stored orders, emails, REST or accounting systems.
Investigate refund amounts or refunded tax that differ by a cent.
Compare a gateway capture or refund with the WooCommerce order.
Check changes after rounding, tax-price, decimal or tax-plugin settings changed.

Keeps diagnosis read-only until the owner approves one defined change.
Takes a backup, states the check and undo, and rehearses each proposed change on staging.
Reproduces orders and refunds on staging with the gateway in test mode.
Keeps exports, screenshots and gateway reports out of chats, tickets and repositories, then deletes them after reporting.
